Collective impact is described in an article by Fay Hanleybrown, John Kania, & Mark Kramer as an approach with more discipline, being higher performing and having five conditions necessary for success. Those five key conditions that distinguish collective impact from other types of collaboration are: a common agenda, shared measurement systems, mutually reinforcing activities, continuous communication, and the presence of a backbone organization. The article describes how to begin and sustain lasting social progress.
