Higher Education and Tax Sites
Progress' VITA program in Madison is well under way with volunteer recruitment. With over 70 students showing interest in learning more about tax law we are counting on having a surplus of volunteers (as long as itemizing doesn't scare them off!) and providing quality training.
The VITA program in Madisons serves two huge higher ed. institutions, UW Madison and Madison College (formerly MATC), both of which utilize the service extensively. While Progress teaches volunteers and provides the program coordination to our partners, these educational institutes have a vested interest in the program and have thoroughly showed their support.
When partner's provide a recipricol relationship like this - both organizations benefit. For instance both institutions allocate space for tax preparation, scheduling services, and assistance from their financial aid offices to streamline students into their offices for federal aid help. As well, a special kudos goes out to Madison College and their tremendous Accounting Library staff. The staff and faculty at Madison College have provided so much help with the success of this site I anticipate another amazing tax season.
