Conferences co-sponsored by Progress Through Business brought together diverse groups of individuals to learn how to tap into the federal government's stimulus package. The conferences were held on October 13th and October 15th at two California universities. Approximately 80 people attended the California Conference on the Stimulus: Renewing the Economy Through the Building Trades held at Stanford University in Palo Alto, which featured keynote addresses by Donald Kennedy, former Stanford University president and Food and Drug Administration commissioner and former California Treasurer, Phil Angelides.
A similar conference was held at the University of California at San Diego, attended by 49 people. This conference had a higher concentration of business representatives and focused more on housing and university development projects. One of the keynote addresses was given by Progress Through Business CEO, Don Graves.
Attendees at both conferences included representatives from large and small companies, labor unions, green organizations, government bodies and community groups. Sponsors of the conferences included Swinerton Incorporated, The Apollo Alliance, the Beyster Institute of UC San Diego's Rady School of Management, the State Construction and Building Trades Council of California and Harrell Remodeling.
